The Laugh Track Expands Beyond Just Laughter

Psychology shows that experiencing an event with another person can also change our experience of that event in other ways as well. Hearing other people laugh at a joke makes us think that the joke is actually funnier. We tend to unconsciously mimic the behavior of others, a phenomena that researchers christened the chameleon effect. Because of emotional contagion, we're literally catching other people's emotions.
