The Academy of Sciences Voted Not to Give Her the Seat
Marie Curie was awarded a Nobel Prize for her work on X-ray technology during World War II. She applied to join France's Academy of Sciences, which is circled by invitation only. The French press said it would harm the traditional gender identity of women and that she should never be allowed there. But in the end they voted not to give her the seat; someone named Edward Brauey won instead.
