I appreciate the way in which you describe that process well. I think especially, you know, there is an image of the stoic professor that is just a genius and supertalented about reading and about writing and about research. And one of the things that students never stop to connsider, for good reasons, is that many of us in front of the class room have some of the same anxieties that they have. When students learn that professors also have this sort of tarrying relationship with language, with reading, with writing, it dmystifies the process.
David Peña-Guzmán discusses how to help rediscover the joy of reading on episode 298 of the Teaching in Higher Ed podcast.
