Booker T Washington - Is He Part of the Vision?

Booker T Washington was also a big proponent of this like Booker T Washington, right? Was he? Yeah, no. That's actually an important issue in the book is that people treat him as an accommodationist. He has sometimes been critiqued for putting too much emphasis on trades and not enough on liberal arts or something like that. But what he doesn't get credit for is that the class of middle and upper class black people who came out of Hampton and Tuskegee end up becoming the ones who fund the civil rights movement. It takes decades to get to the point where the Montgomery bus boycott works when the boycotts they were trying in the 1890s didn’t work
