The Importance of H1 Headings in HTML5

In HTML5 you can have H1 heading in every section, every semantic element of the page. So where the H1 comes doesn't really matter as long as it's in its section. We used to say that there was only allowed one H1 heading per page. That was true wasn't H1 for? I don't know. But it was definitely something we all said. People were encouraging us to have one.
