The width of the wheels on roman chariots were about four feet eight and a half inches. And that's like the width that accommodates two horses. A paper titled morphometric measurements and animal performance inducees in a study of forms of brazilian sport horses undergoing training for aventing. According to their statistics, point five five meters was the average width of a horse butt,. which converts to one point eight feet. So times two horses is three point six feet, with 14 point five inches, or little a foot between the horse. Buts for tail swishing, i suppose.
