A doctor in chicago named bernard pantis had the idea of getting donors and storing their blood. His research is what has contributed to the creation of large scale blood banks. They are the reason why the rian red cross was able to collect more than 13 million pints of blood during world war too. And it also appears that the blood mobile was the brain child of doctor charles drew.
