Villagers often run the last mile to connect to electricity. They'll dig the last bit of the road to connect to the main road network. The great thing is, of course, they do it much more cost efficiently. If you were to go to an international charity and say, we need to supply water to this village, engineers would arrive with big land cruisers. Whereas the villagers make every dollar go so far because they're digging the pipes themselves. It's heartbreaking and I'm afraid we all do it.
