There's a duality going on here with this new record. You're embracing the freedom of experimentation and weirdness, but at the same time setting yourself another challenge of trying to write better lyrics and sing in a different way. And that's a really great way of kind of putting something very human, something very emotional, something very familiar and evocative and nastalgic,. in the middle of something futurist and avengard and maybe dissonant. I think the idea that you can marry those two to different impulses, opposing impulses is what i love about music. It's a art form that does that particularly well.
