USAID - Cuban Music Festival

Luna Olavariya Gaeigos is a writer and producer who has worked with Cuban hip-hop artists for years. She says the U.S. government paid millions of dollars to undermine Cuba's communist government. USAID denied that its programs were aimed at strengthening civil society, but several members of Congress denounced the initiative after it became public. Luna: This all culminated in the USAID attempting to hijack or co-opt a Cuban music festival that was independent from any kind of state control at the time.
