I was a top sales professional and almost none of that has anything to do with being a manager. Selling internally as a manager, as a leader is a different skill set than selling externally. If you're not excited about the idea that if you're doing your job right, people beneath you will be making more money than you, you are not the one. I guess hard to train for self awareness and optimism and competitiveness and like inspiration.
