The Future of Chronic Pain
A lot of these integrative therapies can be delivered fairly easily to patients either just using the internet or smartphone apps. I was quoted recently in a New York Times piece that Nicholas Christoff did saying that in people with chronic pain there's 15 or 20 non-pharmacologic therapies now that have a big evidence base and the main thing we need to be doing is encouraging the try new things. We don't know now who's going to respond to acupuncture, who'sGoing to respond really well to mindfulness but about one out of three people on average respond to any of those non-drug therapies.
