Is Virtue Signalling a New Thing?

Virtue signalling is a relatively new phrase, and i think a lot of people ume that it's a relatively new phenomenon. Is just been technologically enabled. And so part of it, i'm sure, is what's called compassion fatigue. Ri people just feel like, i'm being asked to care about a lot of things, and how do you do that? Part of it is the difficulty of understanding the connection between caring and actually having an effect.
