There's a rich history of methods that use enzymes to selectively mark DNA, right? Chromatin accessibility mapping. We used an enzyme that marks DNA with an epigenetic modification only found in bacteria and a few other select species. Most metazoa that have been profiled at this point don't have appreciable M6A. It's really found in a few unique organisms like ciliates.
