The Failure Mode of Influence Without Authority
A failure mode that I have seen of those in an influence role, even a formal influence role, where I've seen this fail is the the influence role becomes basically a passive observer and doesn't take ownership of the project themselves. They'll sort of give passive feedback. And if it's not listened to, they say, well, it's not my fault. If you feel true ownership over your company, and you know, you have like equity in it and you care about the rest of your team, it's still your responsibility to let somebody know.
