Danny Goldberg is widely credited with shepherding Nirvana toward their multi-platinum success. He was recruited to Atlantic Records, a label that had fallen behind in the alternative rock sweepstakes. One of Goldberg's first moves at Atlantic was to hire into his artists and repertoire or A&R department an indie musician who might have been even heaper than Sonic Youth. Tim Summer wrote for alt-rock bible trouser press and played with no-wave pioneer Glenn Bronka.
