I don't think that Hitchens could envision or allow for the fact that there are plenty of people who consider themselves religious and got a lot out of being in a religion. And he debated those people too, and I just met some of them recently,. A rabbi who debated him, and we spent the better part of a dinner, training stories about Christopher - how much he missed it.
