The Gunpowder Tragedy

King James I was the target of a number of plots. The main plot involved an attempt to kidnap him and remove religious toleration laws. But there were also two smaller plots involving laymen, one being called 'the knitted plot' And then came the gunpowder plot which saw William Watson sent to the gallows for his part in it.
