Emotion and Perception Aren't Separate Things
The idea that the brain sort of switches back between nary modes really doesn't capture the complexity, i think, of of human cognitive states or of human emotions. From the first moment you perceive things through any of your senses, there is an emotional, contextual aspect to that. It's not as just, oh, we can take in objective information, and then y later, do we begin to put an emotional glass on it? No, that's not the way it works.
