The cosmological constant is absolutely part of the field equations I wrote down. It was already implicitly there as one of the allowed things you could put in the equation from the start. Causation is a way that we human beings have of conceptualizing what happens according to those equations. Even in Newton's laws, F equals ma, force equals mass time acceleration. You can remove force from the equation entirely.
