Hypochondriacs and the Brain

The brain is so powerful that it really can convince itself that it's ill. Everybody has some hypochondriism because they're in touch with their body and trying to see if they're okay. Some people have a much higher threshold of, yeah, I'm ill than other people. These folks are often worrying that minor symptoms or body sensations mean you have a serious illness. And they find little to no reassurance from negative test results or a doctor's reassurance that they're healthy.
