Some artists from the sixties and seventies have been very vocal on streami spotify in particular, neil young, johnni mitchel, david crosby. They all decided they wanted their music pulled off of the platform, and that is their right. A distribution companies submit their music to be uploaded to these platforms. What these platforms have done is they've allow od artist, whether they're signed to a label or not, to build world wide audiences. That was not the case back when these artists started.
