The Early Middle Ages - A Brief History of Philosophy
Scholastic philosophy in some form already began early in the twelfth century. The scholar's exposure to a whole new body of thought that they really hadn't had access to in the early middle ages. But as the reconquest of spain progresses, christian states are able to get a hold of libraries of literature accumulated by islamic rulers. And so scholastic philosophy becomes much more intense and heated.
