The Russian Imperial State, the Russian Empire, and Other Questions?
Is there any conflict between this Russian sense of authenticity as an imperial motivation and the fact that many of the servits of imperialism were themselves not Russian? I think there are some links. You can see some tendencies to that during the Soviet era and the post-Soviet era as well. People were incorporated into the empire by force and not by choice, but you can still see how it could work. Whether you change does come the wilderness of the past or not?
