Field studies are amazing because they uncover unknown unknowns. It can be really hard for people to recall the things that they're maybe not used to even thinking about when it comes to using a product. Some of the times that I've done field studies, it has, the stuff has been portable. But there was something so much more rich about seeing that person's particular context and environment than any other approach.
