i think it's very, very hard for us to extract ourselves from our own egocentric perspective. I would argue that many compromises could inflate the public good but then in history, there've been plenty of what we now think of as terrible compromises. Albert einstein once said, allegedly, beware of rotten compromises. Your offered something that looks like it may be beneficial, may be even morally acceptable. But we have to sort these things out. We col at least appreciate or understand why it is that these differences in political views can be so hard to bridge. And i think that all our congressional representatives and senators should know about that.
Also: is it better to be right or “not wrong”?
