The Global History of Science
Sub-Saharan Africa very rarely makes it into big histories of science. When we bring this mathematical work from cities like Carnot and Timbuktu into the history of world science, what does that do to change our understanding? So very deliberately wanted not only Africa to feature in this global history of science, but to not feature simply as a story of slavery. And additionally for it not to feature as a disconnected place, but a remarkably connected place in the early modern world.
