The Role of Calcium in Bone Breakup

The initial drop in calcium that causes the PTH increase and the bone breakdown with your measuring with CTX. If you prevent that reduction in calcium, then you don't get the increase in PTH and you don't getting the bone breakdown. Exactly. We prevent the same. There's still a small increase in resorption. And based on some studies in the literature, some studies that were done in dogs and beagles, where they controlled the state of metabolic acidosis. It does look like metabolic acidosis per se can trigger an increase in P TH. So because we were doing vigorous exercise in one of our experiments, we did measure lactate. We do see an increase.
