Where you are in the U.S. says a lot about where you're growing up, writes David Frum. Workplaces can be very good at exposing people to each other but not as good at connecting them with others who share their same background or economic circumstances. The Facebook data is able to see whether or not I'm making friends in workplace or high school or my neighborhood because we can see the different places that people came from.
