Your book The Future of Capitalism is dedicated to your cousin Sue. Can you tell me about why her life is an important symbol for you? I'm a very private person, so I didn't like to make it personal, but in the end I did, and my cousin was happy about it. We were born on the same day into very, very similar worlds. Neither of our parents had any education. And then at 14 our lives diverged,. Because her rather authoritarian father died, and she went and drifted. Meanwhile I carried on at my grammar school. So this sort of ridiculous divergence in lived experience. A divergence which really should have been avoidable. But they weren't avoided.
