The Importance of Balance in Artwork
When a viewer looks at a painting for the first time, it doesn't matter if the design is relatively simple or complex. They see the hole before they see the parts. That's what we're looking at. For me, it's like, oh, my gosh. I think there's actual words that I hear in my brain for something that has really beautiful design. A good Rothko can do that. There's some artwork that transcend their thingness. It's just innumerable.
