The Mycenaeans and the Thera Eruption
The Minoan's rebuilt at first. They did abandon some settlements and probably had their fleet significantly damaged, which would have caused them serious hardship as theirs was a trading empire. However, the Minoans did manage to hang on until around 1450 BC when they were overrun by the Mycenaeans from mainland Greece. Most historians believe it's unclear whether the MyCenaeans violently destroyed theMinoans or whether the destruction is a result of internal rebellion and political unrest among the Minoan ruling class. And we're going to get to it in a minute.
