The Concerns About the Public Health Model

When I talk about this kind of model I'm always surprised at the level of pushback it gets. A lot of the policies especially if you look at Caruso's policies they seem really common sense. They seem broadly like things I would expect most people to be on board with. And I think that there are at least a couple of things which tend to give rise to serious worries about the model. One thing you hear people worrying a lot about is the idea of medicalizing crime or medicalizing deviant behavior more generally.
