I think every parent looks at their kid and thinks, I want to shield them from the bad things that happen to me. And yet, of course, there's always a fear that if we take that to an extreme, we deprive them of something. It's just hard to say, I don't think any parent under any circumstance could say, I'd be okay with that happening to my kid. Even if on the other side,. it's going to become a huge part of their defining characteristic... You just couldn't imagine them going through that as that child. Those experiences could have ruined me.
