The Prigoshin of the Wagner Group
CNN's John Defterios says Wagner is a mercenary group that has been involved in wars on behalf of the U.S. and Afghanistan. He says its leader, Prigoshin, was unhappy with his treatment by Russian authorities during the Ukraine war. In an apparent coup d'état, he drove to Rostov-on-Don where Russia's southern military headquarters are based - but it wasn't real. The move may have been Putin's punishment for trying to rein him in, defterios says.
