The History of Neuroscience
Between 1930 and 1960, Walter Freeman performed 3000 lobotomies in the US. Now he won a Nobel Prize for this. He said it allowed people to go back to their childhood. But because people started acting infantile, right, right, frontal lobes gone. People became unruly. They couldn't regulate their emotions adequately. It was not a success. And so by the 1960s, which still is pretty nice, right? They were performing these. So thankfully we don't do this anymore.
