The Importance of Discipline, Respect, and Selflessness in Leadership

When we first got there, our mission was to kill the insurgents. And we evolved into protecting the populace. We came to the conclusion that, Hey, if we're going to be successful here, it's about protecting the populace and not simply killing the bad guys. Now, sometimes you would have to kill bad guys in order to protect the populace. So I'm not saying, you know, that was totally off the table. But the mindset completely changed for us throughout that one year that we conducted operations there.
