Sedentism
Sedentism means your depending on its fixed territory to survive. The surplus allows you to hire people to defend you, for example. There's not enough people in the surrounding area that you can actually go. Once there's nowhere to go, then domination sets in and it cements itself. And yet, i accords really well with a lot of james scott's research where he's documenting a lot of stateless societies that have dispersed mobile agriculture. We always forget about women because we erase them from all these discussions.
