The Importance of Intuition
There are some measures, some of them related to criticality, which could be used as generalized measures of the health of any cybernetic system. But one thing that could be somewhat thorny is that interestingly, very complex adaptive systems, they're not necessarily critically organized at every single part of them. And so you would need a good causal model of what each of the sub components of the system are doing and where they should be with respect to like different amounts of stability and plasticity or what types of dynamics they ought to exhibit. So I don't know how we'd measure these things.
