The Hard Problem of Consciousness
I don't want to give up on conscious experience. We take it as a fact to be explained. A real problem of consciousness is to identify the mechanisms that are responsible for conscious experiences, not just neural correlates. And once you've done that, and you've solved the real problem of Consciousness then the idea of what it's like drops out. That's really kind of dumb if you think about it. There's not one thing that it's like to be conscious. It's there's millions of things that it'slike and conscious a real solution to the problem of consciousness will explain all of them.
