AI and COVID: A Pilot Project
Leonard: I've been developing some interest in AI sort of circling back to some computer science minoring I did at university like 20 years earlier. And so this early work, I think, was largely based on that idea is could there be a pattern in the lung ultrasound images that simply human clinicians like you and I, Leon, who are well trained in ultrasound couldn't recognize. But we were able to uncover that using neural networks that COVID which for the ultrasound oriented folks, would know that it appears with this irregular plural line on lung Ultrasound. The project really lit the fuse on the whole thing.
