Is There a Future Threat? Is It Realistic?

Jay Parini: It's exciting and fantastic to think about these things in wild sci-fi terms, but it sometimes disconnects us from the actual reality of the threat. When I can see this as an eventuality and not just a fantastic maybe thing that requires all sorts of crazy technology, then I might be more invested in thinking about it from an ethical perspective.
