The Importance of Equality

St. John Chrysostom, a theologian of the 4th century, wrote a sermon calling out Christians for greediness and hoarding. He says who are we to claim anything as mine and not yours? In a limited economy where there are endless material resources, equality is essential to peace, prosperity and mutual respect. Hoarding creates an unsustainable community.
