The Importance of Embedded Software in Trading Strategies
Switches can take a packet on the wire and send it somewhere else. They have some embedded code that says based on that price update i'm going to change my price of this order to this price. It can do that without ever having to go to software but we never even need to send that packet to a server to process so the switch is able to um as fast as anything else in a network can do.
