The Importance of NATO Security in Ukraine

There simply isn't the will in most European countries to go to war with Russia for Ukraine's independence. The only load-bearing security actor in this story is NATO itself. Unless the war were to come to an end on quite strongly Ukrainian terms, it's quite difficult to see how Ukraine is coming into NATO in the foreseeable future.
