The Effect of Games on the Real World
In the field of animal cognition, there has been a lot of interest in recent years about animal play. Scientists have begun paying attention to the ways in which animals engage in make, believe and along the way learn social norms that are essential for them to operate in their social communities. We experience play as relaxing in a way, as Gautimer says, we lose ourselves in play. And this reminds me of sociologist Roger Kaiwa's famous account of play in games where he says that play happens in a pure space that is isolated from the rest of life.
