The Big Bang Theory and the Stable State Theory

In the 1940s, there weren't really any observations that enabled one to distinguish between the Big Bang Theory and the steady state theory. Shoma: Let's say you're an astronomer in 1948 or something; you've been taught about the Big Bang theories but don't know how this story turns out. Do you think you would prefer one theory over the other, Shoma? You just couldn't tell with the data at the time.
