The Blackization of Higher Education

After 1968, there was what we call the King Enrollment. There was a tripling of the number of Black people in higher education. The students who came into the campus at that point were bringing with them the orientation of their community which was being influenced by Black power. And so when they came into the institution and confronted institutional racism, they revolted. That led us to studying Black intellectual history. So the Blackization was the first stage.
