The Problem With Torture
Torture is absolutely prohibited even in America, but let me give you the context. We are dealing with a state that allows capital punishment and the Supreme Court has ruled that capital punishment execution is both legal and constitutional in states that have it. The state can conscript in Australia as well as in the US. If we already allow conscription and the death penalty, why is torture absolutely prohibited? What makes torture uniquely objectionable in a way that makes it even worse than war, conscription in the cause of war, and makes it even better than the death penalty?
