Anorexia - The Triumph Over Hunger

Overcoming hunger through a tremendous act of will is initially a narcissistic triumph, that triggers a feeling of elation. But therein also lies the tragedy of anorexia: with the refusal to eat, hunger grows and becomes torturous. Thereby, the anorexic person ultimately brings upon herself again and again what someone else had already done to her.
